DESCRIPTION
The ‘Pigeonnier’ (French for dovecote, or pigeon house) is a fully furnished holiday home ranked 4 epis (the premium rank by Gites de France, the French holiday rentals label), set in the region of Haute-Marne, the countryside where the sources, rivers, lakes and forest is abundant. The guesthouse can accommodate up to 14 people, according to your needs.
As you step in, you discover a cosy open plan living area with a wood burning stove and comfy sofas as well as a long wooden table for unforgettable diners. The fully equipped kitchen is designed and finished with modern appliances ; you feel right at home. There is also a separate TV room on the first floor, which can be closed up to become an extra double bedroom. Up the stairs, the mezzanine floor is a bright space to read and it distributes the 5 spacious bedrooms. The house includes 2 bathrooms (one with a bathtub, the other one with a shower), 2 separate toilets, a garage (with a ping-pong table), a south-facing terrace and a beautiful landscaped garden with view on the countryside.

Only 4 hours from Calais and equally 3 hours from Paris and Strasbourg and an hour away from Nancy, the Haute-Marne countryside of the Champagne region is a peaceful area of unspoiled nature in the north east of France.

The HISTOry OF THE GITE
The building that is now the gite was formerly an old horse stable with saddlery, a garage to park (horse) carriages, horse loose boxes and from the first floor to the attic, the animal fodder storage. This stable may have been a part of this large stone house in front of the gite, which was a coaching inn (the house on the left in this picture).
